Q:
When
does and how do sprains happen?
A:
A sprain
is an injury to a ligament or to the site of its attachment to
the bone, most often the ankle, knee, elbow, or wrist, which
usually results in painful swelling. Sprains are often caused by extrinsic load (i.e., twisting),
which makes the ligaments deform past their elastic limit. The
extent to which the bones depart
from the normal alignment will determine the severity of the
injury to the tendon. Poor
conditioning, ill- fitting sports equipment, sudden increases
in intensity or duration of an activity are the common risk
factors.
Q:
What are the differences between sprain and strain?
A:
A sprain is an injury to a ligament or to the site of its
attachment to the bone. The common affected areas are the
ankle, elbow, and wrist.
A strain is a tear or other injury to muscle tissue or
tendon, commonly occurring in the muscles that support the
neck, thigh, groin and ankle.
The principles of treatment for the two conditions are
the same.
Q:
What is
the traditional treatment for sprains, and why should I use
SprainCare?
A:
The traditional
treatments for sprain or strain includes rest, ice,
compression and elevation of the affected areas.
Activity that involves the affected area should be
limited for an average of seven days. OTC pain relievers or
anti-inflammatory drugs are not recommended unless the pain is
very severe because they might interfere with the natural
process of tissue repair.
There are a few herbs that you can take by mouth which
may strengthen and tone the body’s system.
However, there has not been any topical herbal formula
especially for muscle injury. SprainCare is designed for this
purpose. The formula has been improved and modified after
testing on more than 10,000 injured cases and has demonstrated
80-90% effectiveness. According
to Chinese Traditional Medical Theory, painful swelling caused
by sprain is due to the blockage of channels or meridians in
the area. SprainCare
helps to dissipate the stasis therefore relieving pain and
swelling. In
modern words, SprainCare can promote blood circulation and
facilitate tissue recovery. This product showed effectiveness even without ice pad
therapy. In most
cases, we have seen results after applying SprainCare in the
first 12-24 hours.
When you travel or exercise, it is not convenient to
find ice pads. You
can always trust SprainCare when you keep it handy.
Q:
I
played basketball yesterday and injured my ankle. My left ankle is in pain and swelling. Can SprainCare help?
A:
Yes, SprainCare works best on sprains.
Spray SprainCare on the surface of your ankle 3 or 4
times for each application and rub softly.
You may also spray SprainCare on a small piece of gauze
and apply the wet gauze to your ankle.
Make sure you tape the gauze to your ankle.
We once had a similar case like yours.
A 52-year old lady had a sprain in her left ankle.
She had a 10x8 cm size bruise and swelling in her
ankle. She
started using SprainCare 2 hours after the injury.
She used it 4 times a day.
The pain was relieved and the bruise and swelling
shrunk to 8x6 cm on the second day.
She could use her left foot on the third day and
totally recovered after 5 days.
Usually, the first and the second day are very crucial
for the recovery. Try to rest your ankle as much as you can
while using SprainCare. Please
consult your doctor if you have severe pain, suspect bone
fracture, or open wound.
Q:
My shoulder was hit by a bookshelf when I moved
furniture this morning. Now
I have a big bruise and swelling on my left shoulder.
Can I use SprainCare?
A:
Yes, you can use SprainCare if your shoulder does not
have an open wound. We
had a young man who was hit by a car and received a large
bruise on his right shoulder.
The x-ray was normal.
He applied SprainCare on his shoulder, 4 times a day.
The bruise became smaller on the second day.
The bruise disappeared and he could move the shoulder
freely after 5 days.
Q:
I heard that SprainCare could relieve pain from acute
sprains. Can you
tell me if SprainCare is effective for stiff necks also?
A:
A stiff neck is usually caused by uncomfortable
positions during sleep. The
neck muscle is strained by unusual posture.
Rich Nature SprainCare can relieve the stiffness.
You can apply SprainCare on the sore area the same way
as on the other muscle injuries.
Q:
I
had a wrist sprain last year.
The wrist is not in pain or swelling anymore.
However, I still feel uncomfortable whenever I use the
wrist to open a bottle or jar this year.
Can I try SprainCare?
A:
SprainCare works best on acute soft tissue injuries since it
decreases the swelling and relieves pain.
Sometimes, when the injured joint or muscle didn’t
get completely rested during recovery, tissue hyperplasis will
occur. SprainCare
is not designed for chronic muscle problems.
Q:
How many days does it take to see the effects of SprainCare
when it is applied?
A:
For most acute muscle injury cases, the average
recovery time is about ½-3 days.
The pain and swelling decrease in the first day for
most people. We
advise you to use SprainCare until the pain and swelling are
completely gone. Rich
Nature SprainCare is supplied in a 58ml (2 oz) spray bottle.
The amount used per day is about 9 ml.
One bottle can usually serve you for a week.
Q:
Why
can’t SprainCare be used for open wounds?
Does it have side effects when used externally?
A:
We
have no reported side effects for SprainCare during more than
30 years of clinical usage.
However, we do not recommend use SprainCare on open
wound simply because the formula is not designed for this
purpose. You need
to see your doctor if you have an open wound.
People who are highly allergic to many substances
should seek advise from your doctor before use SprainCare.
Q:
Do I
still need to use Ice pads or take a rest when I use
SprainCare?
A:
Yes.
SprainCare helps to heal sprains faster than using Ice
pads only. If you
use SprainCare and Ice pads on the first day you will feel
much better on the second day.
Besides, do not forget to let the injured body rest for
the first couple of days.
