In
the fall of 1996 Dr. Cui Yueli and the founders of Rich Nature
Labs invited Dr. Pizzorno and a delegation from Bastyr
University led by Dr. Mark Nolting to
travel to Beijing and other major cities to meeting with the
leaders of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. Dr. Cui is
considered by many to be the modern day father of Traditional
Chinese Medicine. The picture above was taken at the
headquarters of the Chinese Ministry of Health which happens
to be a major historical site in Beijing. It was the childhood
home to Pu Yi, the last emperor of China. The delegation
was awe struck at the historical importance of meeting at this
site with a man so vital to the current global success of
Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Bastyr delegation, Dr. Cui,
and Dr. Zhang, laid important groundwork for future
cooperation between Bastyr University and the Traditional
Chinese Medicine community in China. With the untimely passing
of Dr. Cui, Zhang continues his work as a Minister of Health
strongly supportive of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
