Dr. Xiaoping Zhang, Daughter of Dr. Cui, represented  the family at the reception. Dr. Pizzorno and Dr. Nolting (former chair of the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Department at Bastyr, 1991-1997) shared personal accounts of meeting with Dr. Cui and the current Minister of Health, Zhang Wenkang, while both were part of a 1996 Bastyr University delegation to China. Dr. Pizzorno warmly recalled meeting with Dr. Cui at the Ministry office in Beijing located at the traditional childhood residence of the last emperor of China, Pu Yi.  Dr. Nolting presented a detailed review of Dr. Cui's extremely productive and important life. It was made clear to all in attendance why Dr. Cui is rightly referred to as the "Father of Modern Traditional Chinese Medicine".
